It is the mission of
Queer Cafe Network to educate the public regarding LGBTQ
topics and to raise awareness of LGBTQ issues. The
target audience of this website is the LGBTQ community
and those who support the LGBTQ community, including
allies, teachers, advocates, counselors, mentors, and
activists.
Queer Cafe Network owns
and operates this public website and is solely responsible for
its content. We maintain this independent, not-for-profit website as
an educational service and information resource. It is
intended for your general informational use only and
offered for your consideration.
This is a
curated website. Content is carefully selected,
thoughtfully organized, and regularly updated. It
is our intention to present interesting and relevant
content that has been reviewed for accuracy, quality,
and appropriateness. When necessary, externally
sourced material may be edited for length, language,
suitability, and brand consistency.
Subject Matter
The subject matter of
this website seeks to address a wide range of sexual
identity topics and sexual minority issues, including
information related to sex, gender, sexual orientation,
gender identity, and gender expression. We seek to
present this information in a sensitive, positive, affirming,
inclusive, and non-judgmental manner.
While we make no
guarantees that the information is complete or
error-free, it is our sincere intention to provide
accurate, up-to-date, research-based material to raise
awareness and understanding, and to assist in the
dissemination and advancement of knowledge, and the
expansion of education, in the area
of sexual minority concerns and issues, including topics
relevant to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and
queer community.
To this end, a wide
variety of well-considered resources is offered through
this website and through the links to numerous other
website locations on the internet.

throughout this website employ the use of the acronym
LGBTQ as an umbrella term to represent the words
lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer.
The word queer is also employed as an umbrella
term to refer to a wide range of sexual and gender
minorities.
Content
This website contains
mature subject matter. At times, articles may contain
frank discussions and explicit descriptions involving
matters of human sexuality. While some material may not
be suitable for minors, it is not our intention to
feature any lewd, obscene, or pornographic subject
matter.
It is not our intention
to feature any material that is otherwise controversial,
provocative, derogatory, or offensive. We do at all
times seek to advance standards of decency and literacy
and present
subject matter from a scientifically-supported
viewpoint.

this website might include scholarly articles,

personal stories, opinion essays, news reports,
entertainment pieces, and humorous material. While much
of the content is informational, some content is purely
for fun.
While we make every

to refer to a "safe haven," "sanctuary," or "refuge."
The title is also meant to be understood figuratively to
refer to a kind of "salon" in the context of
intellectual discussion, idea exchange, and public
discourse.
